Bacary Sagna: Manchester City "can be champions"

Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna insists that his side can end the season with silverware despite losing three of their last four fixtures in all competitions.

Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna has suggested that his side can end the season as champions, despite losing three of their last four fixtures in all competitions.

The 32-year-old has been an ever-present so far this season for the side, who slipped to second place in the Premier League after a 4-1 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, but Sagna insists that the team can recover and win some silverware this season.

"We were too nice, we lost too many duels and we have to be killers," Sagna is quoted by the Daily Star as saying. "Not just [against Tottenham], but against Juventus, we had the chance to score goals and we didn't. At the end of the game, we lost the game.

"We have to learn, we have to keep positive. We controlled the first half and we have to keep reminding ourselves to be positive. We should have killed the game.

"Maybe we have shown too much confidence. We lost too many duels everywhere on the pitch. We know we are a good team. We know we can be champions."

City will take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
