Sergio Aguero: "Best is yet to come"

Sergio Aguero remains confident that Manchester City will recover from European disappointment to retain their Premier League title.

Sergio Aguero has insisted that Manchester City will bounce back from their European nightmare to retain the Premier League title.

City have failed to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages for the second consecutive season, confirming their exit with a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in midweek.

Aguero, who scored from the spot against Madrid, has admitted that City have failed to reach the heights of last season in the early stages of the campaign.

He said: "It's true we don't have the same flair in games we had last season and we've scored less goals for sure.

"But the Premier League table says something different. We're hard to beat, top of the table and defending well so we can't be doing that badly, can we?

"I'm sure we will retain our title. Our Premier League title showed it possibly was and that we had great things ahead. We're destined to win more trophies and barring any major setbacks we will."

Roberto Mancini's side continue their title defence this weekend with a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Rafael Benitez's Chelsea.
