How Manchester City could line up against Wycombe

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will ring the changes for Tuesday's EFL Cup third-round contest at home to League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers.

The Citizens will again be without Benjamin Mendy and Zack Steffen, while John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, Rodri and Oleksandr Zinchenko are doubts for the Premier League outfit.

Guardiola is expected to name some experienced players in his XI, with Kyle Walker and Fernandinho potentially both starting, while Phil Foden is seemingly in need of 90 minutes, as he continues his recovery from injury.

It is very likely that there will be youngsters in the side, though, with Samuel Edozie, who featured in the Community Shield at the start of August, in line to feature in the final third of the field.

Nathan Ake should be given another start in the middle of the defence, and the Dutchman could potentially be joined by 18-year-old Josh Wilson-Esbrand, who was on the bench against Southampton on Saturday.

Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer were also among the substitutes for the goalless draw with the Saints, and both players could be handed spots in the first XI in the League Cup fixture.

Steffen's absence, meanwhile, means that 36-year-old Scott Carson should feature between the sticks.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Carson; Walker, Ake, Wilson-Esbrand, Cancelo; Palmer, Fernandinho, Lavia; Foden, F Torres, Edozie
