Manuel Pellegrini: 'Fabian Delph will fly home'

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini confirms that midfielder Fabian Delph will fly home from the team's pre-season tour with a hamstring injury.

Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Fabian Delph will fly home after picking up a hamstring injury during Manchester City's pre-season tour.

The former Aston Villa captain joined the club shortly before they traveled to Australia to compete in the International Champions Cup, but managed just 18 minutes during his debut against Real Madrid.

The manager said at a press conference: "Fabian stayed in Australia as the doctor said it was not good for him to fly [to Hanoi, where City will play the Vietnam national team]. In the next 48 hours, he will fly home.

"We are going to play the best team we can. We have problems with some of the players but we'll see [Raheem] Sterling, Joe [Hart] and others."

Man City lost 4-1 to Rafael Benitez's Real Madrid at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
