Manuel Pellegrini: FA Cup "very important" to Manchester City

Manchester City are taking this season's FA Cup seriously, according to manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that he is taking the FA Cup seriously.

The Citizens appeared to be heading out of the competition earlier today when they trailed Championship side Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium, but the second-half introduction of David Silva and Samir Nasri swung the game in City's favour, with James Milner scoring twice to secure a 2-1 victory.

Speaking after the final whistle, the Chilean said that despite also challenging for the Premier League title and Champions League, the FA Cup is still "very important" to him and his players.

"It doesn't matter who we draw in the fourth round as the ties are going to be tough whoever we face," he told BBC Sport.

"It's a very important competition for us, but we have to take it a game at a time and we will try to stay involved as long as possible."

City last won the FA Cup back in 2011 when Yaya Toure scored the only goal of the game against Stoke City.
