Mario Balotelli doubtful for Italy

Mario Balotelli has been rated as doubtful for Italy's Euro 2012 qualifier in Serbia this Friday with a back injury, the Italian Football Association have confirmed.

The Manchester City striker picked up the injury during a training session earlier today and will undergo tests this afternoon to determine his fitness.

The potential unavailability of the 21-year-old has added to Italian coach Cesare Prandelli's problems up front, after Inter Milan's Giampaolo Pazzini and Villarreal frontman Giuseppe Rossi dropped out of the squad with foot and knee complaints respectively.
