At the time of writing, only Ryan Giggs has made more Premier League appearances than Gareth Barry, and that is a significant record he looks set to overtake in the 2017-18 campaign.

After 11 years at Aston Villa, Barry joined City in 2009 when they were beginning to become a force in English football and quickly endeared himself to fans with a goal in the Manchester derby early in his debut season.

The England international helped the club to FA Cup glory in his second year at the Etihad before making 34 league appearances the following campaign as City won their first top-flight title in 44 years.

By the time he left for Everton in 2013, Barry had made 175 appearances for City, including 132 in the Premier League.
