Man City to pay respects in Munich

A selection of officials from Manchester City, led by long-serving secretary Bernard Halford, will lay a wreath at the memorial of the Munich air crash tomorrow.

City are in Germany for their Champions League encounter with Bayern Munich and are keen to pay their respects to the 23 people who died after the plane, carrying the Manchester United team, club officials and journalists back from a European Cup tie, crashed at Munich airport in 1958.

Blues keeper Frank Swift, who became a journalist at the end of his playing career, was also killed in the tragedy.
