Manchester City are reportedly heading for a Financial Fair Play showdown with UEFA which could see them face expulsion from the Champions League next season.
The Citizens, who allegedly breached financial regulations by exceeding permitted losses of £37m over the past two seasons, have refused to accept any punishment, according to The Mirror.
Football governing body UEFA are said to have set a deadline for the Manchester club to respond which expired on Friday night.
City, who will win the Premier League title for the second time in three seasons on Sunday if they avoid defeat against West Ham United, will now await their fate.
The same report states that UEFA have the power to expel the club from the European competition should they feel it necessary, but the Premier League leaders' Abu Dhabi-based owners are committed to taking the fight all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
