Hart: 'We must stop living in the past'

Joe Hart has urged his Manchester City teammates to stop "living in the past" after the 2-1 defeat to CSKA Moscow left the club's Champions League campaign hanging by a thread.

Seydou Doumbia scored twice to hand the Russian side all three points on a night when Yaya Toure and Fernandinho were both sent off for the hosts at the Etihad Stadium.

Hart insists that there can be no excuses for City's performance, despite the loss of the midfield duo late in the match.

"We weren't good enough," the England goalkeeper told Sky Sports News. "We gave away far too many balls. There's no excuses really, we didn't deserve to win and it just got worse with the sendings-off.

"We can only look at ourselves when we don't perform in games like this - the fans were great and turned up and supported us and we've only got ourselves to blame. We've all got to take a long, hard look at ourselves and work out where we go from here.

"It's a low moment and we've put ourselves in a really weak position in the group. We've proved in the past we're more than capable of producing really good performances, but we need to stop living in the past and make it happen."

City are bottom of Group E on two points, and will need to win both of their remaining fixtures against Bayern Munich and Roma to stand any chance of progressing.
