Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says that he was delighted with his side's character as they came from behind to earn a 4-2 victory in Napoli.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that his players showed a different side to their character after overturning a deficit to earn a 4-2 victory over Napoli in the Champions League.

The Premier League giants went behind in Naples, but goals from Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling ensured that City maintained their 100% record in this season's competition.

City have also guaranteed their place in the knockout stages of the tournament, but Guardiola preferred to talk about the performance of his team after getting the better of the Serie A leaders.

The 46-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I'm really happy we're in the last 16. It was a great victory. The level of football for a spectator was just amazing, all I could say was 'wow'.

"In this level we cannot control 90 minutes. We are going to suffer a bit. The point is how we react. We did it twice, after 1-0 and 2-2, and that's why I'm so pleased. When everything is going well it's easy, even you and I can play. The point is how you react in bad moments and we did it really well.

"We knew how tough it was going to be. I love Napoli and we suffered a lot in the first 20 minutes. I think I got very many answers. In two weeks we won [twice] against a top side."

City still have work to do in order to claim top spot in Group F, with Shakhtar Donetsk sitting just three points adrift in second place.
