Dani Alves: 'Don't write off Manchester City yet'

Dani Alves warns his Barcelona teammates not to write off Man City's chances of recovering from their first-leg Champions League defeat tonight.

Dani Alves has warned his Barcelona teammates not to write off Manchester City's chances of recovering from their first-leg Champions League defeat tonight.

Alves doubled his side's advantage in the closing stages of the 2-0 win at Eastlands, ensuring that the Sky Blues need at least three goals in order to progress to the quarter-final stage.

However, the Brazil international does not believe that he hammered the final nail in City's coffin, stating that "anything can happen" in Catalunya in three weeks time.

"We knew it was going to be a tough match," he told TVE. "They are an opponent that isn't used to being second best.

"We knew that whatever happened here, there is still another 90 minutes to go in which anything could happen. But we have a big advantage having kept a clean sheet."

Martin Demichelis was red-carded for a foul on Lionel Messi inside the area on 54 minutes, before the Argentine dispatched the resulting penalty to send Gerardo Martino's men on their way.
