Mainz 05, Hertha Berlin share the spoils

Mainz 05 and Hertha Berlin have played out a 1-1 draw at the Coface Arena in the Bundesliga.

The hosts had the better of the chances in the first half, but fell behind early in the second period.

Per Skjelbred released Adrian Ramos on the right side of the box to fire home past Loris Karius.

However, that lead did not last long as Mainz restored parity in the 65th minute.

Sami Allagui brought down Park Joo-Ho inside the Hertha penalty area, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting made no mistake from 12 yards.

The result leaves Mainz seventh in the league table with 38 points from 24 matches, while Hertha are two points behind them in ninth.
