Nantes boss Claudio Ranieri in contention for Lyon job?

Nantes boss Claudio Ranieri is reportedly in contention to be named as the new manager of Lyon at the end of the season.

Nantes boss Claudio Ranieri has reportedly emerged as a contender for the Lyon job ahead of next season.

Lyon are currently managed by Bruno Genesio but it has been claimed that the 51-year-old is likely to leave the Groupama Stadium at the end of the campaign.

Ranieri is currently in his first year at Nantes but according to The Sun, the Italian is still eyeing up a bigger job and would be interested in making the switch to Lyon.

The former Leicester City man has watched his current side drop down to eighth place in the Ligue 1 standings in recent weeks, but Lyon allegedly remain impressed with the experienced coach's contribution at Stade de la Beaujoire.

Ranieri - who still has another year on his contract - has recorded 13 wins and eight draws from his 34 matches in charge.
