Luton Town will welcome Peterborough United to Kenilworth Road this Good Friday afternoon in League One.

Match preview

Luton enter this match sat 11th in the division on 55 points after 39 matches from their 15 wins, 10 draws and 14 defeats.

The Hatters know it is essential to secure a win, as they only have seven matches left this season with the club currently six points off Reading, who occupy the last spot in the playoffs.

Jack Wilshere’s side are unbeaten in their last four league games, and this will encourage fans that there is hope they can help propel the club back to the Championship.

Fans will be confident of Luton earning all three points against Peterborough this Friday as they have lost just two of their last 19 league games against Peterborough United, winning three of their last four without conceding.

Kenilworth Road has become a fortress this season as Luton have lost just one of their last 14 home league games when they were defeated 3-2 against Reading last month.

The Posh know a victory is necessary to keep any faint hopes of promotion alive this season, one as the club are currently 11 points off sixth place; however, they have two games in hand over Reading.

Luke Williams’ side have only secured on win in their last seven league games, so a winning run to achieve this appears very unlikely, but stranger things have happened in football.

Yet, fans will be aware the club have lost each of their last three league away games against Luton and will be looking to avoid losing four in succession for the first time.

Team News

Luton will continue to be without Shandon Baptiste and Tom Holmes, who will not be involved due to ligament injuries, while a hip injury to Elijah Adebayo has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

Devante Cole will likely continue leading the line up top due to the absence of Adebayo, like he did last time out in their draw with Stockport County.

However, Ali Al-Hamadi may be thinking he should be in line to start after his heroics in helping guide Iraq to the World Cup.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Sam Hughes for the game, who has a long-term Achilles injury, and Matthew Garbutt may still be unavailable with his injury as he missed the international break for this reason.

David Kamara will be expected to start up top once again due to his fine recent form for the club, with his brace against Rotherham United and fine performance away to AFC Wimbledon.

Luton Town possible starting lineup:

Keeley; Naismith, Odoffin, Lonwijk, Jones; Saville, Lawrence, Clark, Palmer, Richards; Cole

Peterborough United possible starting lineup:

Bass; Mills, Okagbue, Kioso, Dornelly; Khela, Collins, Lisbie, Morgan, Hayes; Kamara

We say: Luton Town 1-0 Peterborough United

Luton should win this game with their season on the line. It will not be a glorious spectacle, but they will get the job done and keep their playoff hopes alive with a narrow victory over Peterborough, who may not have the motivation to battle with their season effectively over.
