Late goals see Luton Town beat Newport County in FA Cup

Late goals from Ricky Miller and Jake Howells help Luton Town finally see off Newport County in a 4-2 win in the FA Cup.

Two late goals saw Luton Town beat Newport County to progress to the second-round of the FA Cup at Kenilworth Road.

Substitute Ricky Miller and Jake Howells finally killed off Newport, who twice came from behind to level the game.

Luton took a half-time lead when Luke Gutridge smashed in a shot from outside the box, but the visitors equalised quickly after half-time through Yan Klukowski.

The Hatters regained the lead when Paul Benson scored his first of the season as he tapped in from close range after Mark Cullen was denied by Joe Day.

However, the Welsh side were not put off by Benson's goal and, after persevering, Aaron O'Connor headed them level before Miller converted Howells's cross in the 78th minute to give the Hatters the lead again.

Newport continued to search for a third equaliser but the Hatters confirmed the win when Howells slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner.
