Saturday's Major League Soccer predictions including Los Angeles FC vs. New York City

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Major League Soccer fixtures, including Los Angeles FC vs. New York City.

Charlotte FC vs. Atlanta (Saturday, 7.15pm)

Charlotte FC will have the chance to kick off matchday two of Major League Soccer when they welcome Atlanta United to the Bank of America Stadium on Saturday.

The Crown will be eager to claim maximum points in their first home game of the season, while the visitors aim to build on the momentum of last weekend's victory.

We say: Charlotte FC 2-3 Atlanta United

With the recent trend in this fixture favouring the away team and momentum on their side, Atlanta are backed to claim their second win of the season, though Charlotte are expected to put up a strong fight in what promises to be a high-scoring contest.

Salt Lake vs. Seattle (Saturday, 9.30pm)

Following a disastrous start to the campaign, Real Salt Lake will look to set things straight when they welcome Seattle Sounders for matchday two of Major League Soccer.

The Claret and Cobalt were thoroughly beaten on their opening-day trip to San Jose Earthquakes, a result that leaves them rooted to the bottom of both the Western Conference and overall standings.

We say: Real Salt Lake 2-2 Seattle Sounders

Given Seattle's current scoring form, having netted eight times in their last three outings, they will fancy their chances of ending their goal drought at Salt Lake.

However, their away struggles against Salt Lake could still resurface, leading us to predict a share of the spoils in this encounter.

New England vs. Columbus Crew (Sunday, 12.30am)

New England Revolution head coach Caleb Porter pictured on February 29, 2024© Imago

New England Revolution will be eager to claim their first victory of the 2025 MLS campaign when they welcome Columbus Crew to Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

The Revs have endured a torrid run against the Black and Gold in recent years, failing to win any of their last nine encounters—drawing six and losing three.

We say: New England Revolution 1-2 Columbus Crew

New England Revolution will be desperate to end their winless run against Columbus Crew, but history favours the visitors, and we expect the Crew's attacking quality to trouble the Revs' defence, helping them edge the clash.

NY Red Bulls vs. Nashville (Sunday, 12.30am)

In their 2025 Major League Soccer home opener, the New York Red Bulls host Nashville SC on Saturday at Red Bull Arena in the second match of the new campaign for both sides.

The defending Eastern Conference champions were beaten 1-0 by FC Cincinnati last weekend, while the Boys in Gold settled for a 0-0 draw with the New England Revolution.

We say: New York Red Bulls 0-0 Nashville SC

These are two sides that focus on defence first and foremost, and we expect this game to reflect that, with both teams likely to take a cautious approach so early into the new campaign.

Orlando City vs. Toronto (Sunday, 12.30am)

Two sides seeking their first victory of the 2025 Major League Soccer campaign will square off on Saturday as Orlando City welcome Toronto to Inter & Co Stadium.

The Lions were beaten 4-2 by the Philadelphia Union in their opener last weekend, while TFC held DC United to a 2-2 draw.

We say: Orlando City 2-2 Toronto

Both sides have the individual quality that can make a difference, but as we saw last weekend, they each give up their share of scoring opportunities, which is why we anticipate an exciting stalemate between the two on Saturday.

Philadelphia vs. Cincinnati (Sunday, 12.30am)

After securing victories in their respective 2025 MLS season openers, Philadelphia Union and FC Cincinnati go head-to-head at Subaru Park, both eager to build on their positive starts.

The Union made a statement with a commanding 4-2 victory away at Orlando City, while Cincinnati edged past New York Red Bulls with a narrow 1-0 win on home soil.

We say: Philadelphia Union 1-2 FC Cincinnati

Philadelphia Union will look to build on their impressive opening win, but FC Cincinnati's strong form and superior head-to-head record give them the edge.

We expect a tight contest, with both sides posing a threat in attack – however, Cincy's resilience and momentum could see them snatch a narrow win here.

Chicago Fire vs. DC United (Sunday, 1.30am)

DC United head coach Troy Lesesne pictured on July 26, 2024© Imago

Chicago Fire and DC United will be looking to secure their first win of the 2025 MLS campaign when they go head to head at the Soldier Field Stadium on Sunday morning.

The Black-and-Red are on a run of four consecutive games without defeat against the home side since April 2023 and will head into the weekend looking to extend this two-year streak.

We say: Chicago Fire 2-2 DC United

Having both dropped points from winning positions in their league openers, Chicago Fire and DC United will head into this weekend's clash looking to bounce back and get their campaign up and running. While home advantage gives the Fire an extra edge here, we predict DC United will do just enough to leave with a share of the spoils.

Kansas vs. Earthquakes (Sunday, 1.30am)

The second round of the matches in the 2025 Major League Soccer season sees Sporting Kansas City and the San Jose Earthquakes lock horns at the Children's Mercy Park on Sunday.

Both teams got off to contrasting starts last time out as the away side cruised to an emphatic victory, while the hosts were on the receiving end of a narrow defeat.

We say: Sporting Kansas City 1-2 San Jose Earthquakes

This fixture has delivered goals on several occasions in the past, and we expect this weekend's clash to be no different.

That said, the San Jose Earthquakes will be the more confident of the two teams heading into this one, so we can see them just about doing enough to get the job done.

Minnesota Utd vs. Montreal (Sunday, 1.30am)

In their 2025 Major League Soccer home opener, Minnesota United host CF Montreal on Saturday for the first time at Allianz Field.

Both sides suffered narrow defeats in their regular season openers, with the Loons losing 1-0 to Los Angeles FC and Atlanta United beating Montreal 3-2.

We say: Minnesota United 1-0 CF Montreal

The Loons were strong defensively at home down the stretch of the 2024 regular season and playoffs, and we believe they will be able to shut down a Montreal side that are traditionally slow starters in the early stages of a new campaign.

Colorado vs. Dallas (Sunday, 2.30am)

Major League Soccer returns with a fresh set of fixtures as Colorado Rapids and Dallas go head to head at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Sunday morning.

Both sides head into the weekend off the back of contrasting results, with the home sides crashing out of the CONCACAF Champions Cup at the hand of Los Angeles FC.

We say: Colorado Rapids 2-1 Dallas

Still reeling from their Champions Cup exit, Colorado Rapids will head into Sunday's clash looking to bounce back and get off the mark in the league. Armas's men have been dominant at home against Dallas and we are backing them to make it eight wins from the last eight meetings between the sides at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Los Angeles vs. NY City (Sunday, 3.30am)

Making just their third-ever visit to BMO Stadium, New York City FC will face Los Angeles FC on Saturday in the second match of the 2025 Major League Soccer campaign for both sides.

A late goal on matchday one last week lifted the Black and Gold to a 1-0 triumph over Minnesota United, while the Pigeons conceded in the latter stages of their 2-2 draw at Inter Miami.

We say: Los Angeles FC 1-0 New York City FC

The Black and Gold have learned how to win these close games, and the same cannot be said about the Pigeons in some of their narrow encounters.

Portland vs. Austin (Sunday, 3.30am)

Seeking to bounce back from an opening-day defeat, the Portland Timbers are back in MLS action on Sunday as they welcome Austin FC to Providence Park.

Austin FC, meanwhile, will make the journey to Oregon with a second straight win in sight after securing maximum points in their curtain-raiser last time out.

We say: Portland Timbers 2-1 Austin FC

Given their opening victory, Austin FC will head into this weekend's affair with the wind in their sails, but the Portland Timbers will back themselves to make home advantage count.

Albeit by only a narrow margin, we are backing the hosts to come away with maximum points when all is said and done.

San Diego vs. St Louis City (Sunday, 3.30am)

Major League Soccer's maiden outfit, San Diego, will host its first league encounter on Sunday morning as St Louis City come visiting the Snapdragon Stadium.

The home side got their campaign off to a fairytale start by securing all three points on the opening weekend, while the visitors could only muster a share of the spoils.

We say: San Diego 1-1 St Louis City

San Diego will have every reason to believe they can emerge with all three points from this one, and rightfully so, given their heroics last time out.

Nonetheless, we are backing the teams to cancel each other out and settle for a point apiece at the end of the 90 minutes.
