Emre Can: "I want to win trophies"

Liverpool's Emre Can admits that he joined the club to win trophies as well as secure regular first-team football.

Emre Can has insisted that he joined Liverpool to "win trophies" as well as secure regular first-team football.

The Germany Under-21 international made 40 appearances for Brendan Rodgers's side in his first season at Anfield, but did not get to lift any silverware.

The defensive midfielder, who will be competing at this summer's Under-21 European Championship in the Czech Republic, told the club's website: "I didn't just come to Liverpool to play football. I want to win trophies. Therefore, I want to win one first with the U21 team.

"It's very good, what I've experienced in Liverpool. The work with youth players in England is very good. England U21s have a really good team too and are favourites. Therefore I hope they don't play us."

Germany face Denmark, Serbia and the host nation in their group at the tournament.
