Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy allegedly threatened to report Liverpool's recruitment team, after they hijacked their deal to sign Luis Diaz from Porto.

The 25-year-old was strongly linked with a move to North London; however, the Reds swooped in and persuaded the winger to move to Anfield in a deal which could rise to around £50m.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Levy was aware of Liverpool's interest in Diaz 24 hours before reports from the media surfaced and he frantically tried to prevent them from hijacking their deal.

The report adds that Levy was prepared to report Liverpool and threatened to expose tactics of their recruitment team to Reds owners John W Henry and Mike Gordon, in a bid to fend off their interest in signing Diaz.

Liverpool are believed to be pleased with every aspect of their swift pursuit of the Colombia international, who has put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half year contract at Anfield.

Tottenham have since turned their attention to signing Juventus pair Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, with the latter having already passed his medical in London.
