Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he is trying to use the January transfer window as a "springboard" to help boost his threadbare squad.
The Reds are currently fifth in the Premier League, and the Northern Irishman has said that he will be looking to engineer deals in the New Year to improve his side's chances of Champions League qualification.
He told reporters: "We will have some returning players fairly soon and January could be a great springboard for us like it was last year. So that's what is in my thoughts.
"I've always worked with what I've got and maximise what we have available so I don't want to get too down or focus too much on [the injuries to the squad]."
