Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers agrees four-year contract extension?

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to sign an improved four-year contract extension later this week as he commits to his long-term project at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to sign a four-year contract extension before the end of the week to commit to his long-term Anfield project.

The Northern Irishman's part in Liverpool's surprising Premier League title challenge has garnered admiring glances from some of Europe's top clubs.

Spanish giants Barcelona are likely to make a change in the dugout at the end of the season and are believed to have mentioned Rodgers as a possible candidate. However, Reds owner John W Henry is desperate to keep hold of the 41-year-old, who is also keen to continue the great work that he has done during his second season on Merseyside.

According to The Mirror, Rodgers has verbally agreed a new deal until 2018, which comes with a pay increase from his £2.5m-a-year salary, making him one of the highest-earning bosses in England.

Nothing has yet been signed, but the same source anticipates Rodgers putting pen to paper in the coming days, and impressive performers such as Raheem Sterling and Jon Flanagan following suit.
