Centre-back pair Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori have both undergone medicals with Liverpool ahead of their imminent moves to Merseyside.
The Reds have agreed an £18m fee for France international Sakho, who is seeking a move away from Paris Saint-Germain having lost his place in the starting lineup to the Ligue 1 club's big-money signings.
They have also had an £7m offer accepted for 20-year-old Sporting Lisbon defender Ilori, who has impressed in just the 12 first-team appearances he has made for the Portuguese outfit.
BBC Sport claims that both players will be present at Anfield for Liverpool's Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday and then complete their moves before the transfer deadline day.
The same source is reporting that Victor Moses and Shay Given could also be recruited by manager Brendan Rodgers on loan before the close of the transfer window.
