Liverpool are reportedly expected to make a record-breaking bid for Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak in the coming days.

The Magpies are close to sorting out a replacement for the super Swede, with Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade arriving in the North-East to undergo a medical on Thursday (August 28).

Newcastle and the Bundesliga side have supposedly agreed a £69m deal for the towering attacker, who is set to feature after the international break for his new employers.

The 23-year-old enjoyed his best-ever goalscoring campaign during 2024-25, netting on 17 occasions across all competitions, including 12 strikes in the German top flight.

Despite his imminent announcement as a Newcastle player, Woltemade is unlikely to play a part versus Leeds United on Saturday.

Liverpool set to launch record-breaking Isak bid?

According to The Telegraph, Liverpool are set to release one final seismic wave onto the transfer scene ahead of Monday night's deadline.

The report claims that the Premier League champions are ready to bid a British record fee on Newcastle and Sweden star Isak.

It is understood that the Merseyside club will offer £130m for the services of a striker who bagged 23 goals in the Premier League last season.

Although Newcastle are said to be looking to pocket £150m from the sale of Isak, the Reds are hopeful that their initial bid will be accepted.

As the transfer window reaches its conclusion, it is believed that discussions over the possible sale of the forward have progressed over the past 24 hours.
