Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes, who is also being linked with a move to Liverpool.

Manchester City are reportedly considering a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes, who has also attracted interest from Liverpool.

Nunes scored eight goals and provided nine assists in 101 appearances for Sporting Lisbon before completing a summer transfer to Wolves.

Despite signing a five-year deal, which includes an option for a further year, Nunes is being linked with a move away from Molineux.

According to Manchester Evening News, Man City are interested in signing the Portugal international, who previously received praise from Pep Guardiola for his performance in Sporting's 5-0 Champions League defeat to the Citizens last season.

Nunes has been identified as a potential target for Man City, who want to strengthen their midfield, with Ilkay Gundogan in the final 12 months of his current contract and Bernardo Silva's future in doubt following summer interest from Barcelona.

The 24-year-old has started six Premier League games for Wolves, who sacked head coach Bruno Lage on Sunday following a poor start to the campaign that leaves them in the relegation zone with six points from eight matches.
