Liverpool trigger Joe Allen release clause

Liverpool have reportedly triggered the release clause in Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen's contract by offering £15m for the Welsh international.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that he is keen to be reunited with the 22-year-old at Anfield.

Rodgers has now increased his offer after a bid of around £12m was previously rejected by his former employers.

Allen recently returned to Swansea following his participation with Team GB at the Olympics.
