Liverpool reportedly step up their interest in signing Egypt international Omar Marmoush from German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.

The Reds appear to be scouring the market for attacking reinforcements due to the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah's future.

He continues to be linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, having entered the final 12 months of his current contract.

While it remains to be seen whether Salah extends his Anfield stay, Liverpool appear to be considering his international teammate as a potential replacement.

The Reds have identified Marmoush as a possible transfer target, although they could face competition from Arsenal and Manchester United.

Liverpool step up Marmoush pursuit

According to Sport Bild, Liverpool have now 'officially expressed' an interest in Marmoush as they look to steal a march on their Premier League rivals.

The report claims that the Reds added the Egyptian to a shortlist of potential targets in the summer, but they decided against a move due to the depth of options that they have in attacking areas.

However, a space could open up in Arne Slot's side if Liverpool fail to agree a new contract with Marmoush's compatriot, Salah.

Crucially, Marmoush does not have a release clause in his Frankfurt contract, which is set to run until the summer of 2027.

As a result, Liverpool would have to meet Frankfurt's asking price which is believed to be in the region of £40m to £50m.

Liverpool's free-scoring transfer target

Marmoush has built a reputation as one of the Bundesliga's best attackers since joining Frankfurt from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023.

In his first season with the club, the forward scored 17 goals and provided six assists in 41 matches across all competitions.

Marmoush has demonstrated that he is no one-season wonder, having scored 11 goals and contributed seven assists in 13 appearances in the current campaign.

With nine of those strikes taking place in the Bundesliga, Marmoush is currently sitting top of the Bundesliga scoring charts alongside Bayern Munich's Harry Kane.
