Liverpool 'postpone Raheem Sterling contract talks'

Liverpool 'postpone Sterling talks'

Liverpool have reportedly put back further contract talks with Raheem Sterling's representatives until the summer.

The England international's future has been the subject of intense speculation, with claims that the 21-year-old's camp have rejected lucrative offers from the club for an extension.

According to The Express, Liverpool have put forward a £90,000-a-week deal to Sterling's representative Aidy Ward, but the proposal was turned down.

It is thought that the club have now postponed talks until the end of the season, while Sterling could seek a salary of up to £140,000 a week, putting himself on a similar package to fellow forward Daniel Sturridge.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's contract discussions with Jordan Henderson are also believed to have reached an impasse, with the midfielder entering the final 15 months of his existing agreement at Anfield.
