Liverpool are reportedly in a strong position to sign Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries and Juventus’s Bremer this summer.
Arne Slot's side have been light in the defensive department this season and the Reds are expected to prioritise reinforcements in the centre-back and full-back positions ahead of the new campaign.
While captain Virgil van Dijk will turn 35 years old in July, Ibrahima Konate is out of contract in the summer, although he did recently hint at extending his stay at Anfield.
Joe Gomez has been tipped to leave in search of regular game time, while teenage summer signing Giovanni Leoni is still recovering from a long-term ACL injury.
Jeremie Frimpong was also signed by Liverpool last summer, but his debut campaign on Merseyside has been plagued by injury, while fellow right-back Conor Bradley is also in the treatment room.
Liverpool ‘contacted’ over potential Dumfries deal
Despite spending around £450m on new players last summer, Liverpool are set to have cash in the bank for more additions, and two players from Serie A could be targeted.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs who have been offered the chance to sign experienced right-back Dumfries from Serie A leaders Inter.
The Dutchman’s £21m release clause is said to have alerted clubs across Europe and discussions over a potential summer exit from San Siro are ‘underway’.
Dumfries’ representatives are trying to secure the 29-year-old a high-profile move to the Premier League, and Liverpool are one club who have been contacted.
Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have also been contacted about Dumfries, who has contributed to 51 goals (25 goals, 26 assists) in 199 appearances for Inter as a right wing-back.
Sources state that Inter are hoping to tie Dumfries down to a new contract and remove his release clause, but the opportunity to play in England may tempt him to leave.
As things stand, Liverpool are considering a move for Dumfries, a player they have admired for some time, but the addition of a new centre-back is thought to be more of a priority.
Liverpool overtake Spurs in race to sign Bremer
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Liverpool are the best-placed English club to sign Brazil international Bremer from Juventus, after overtaking Spurs in the race for his signature.
Although Juve boss Luciano Spalletti views Bremer as ‘untouchable’, the 29-year-old could leave the club if his €54m (£47m) release clause is activated.
Labelled by Inter striker Lautaro Martinez as the ‘best defender’ in Serie A, Bremer has played 115 times for Juventus since joining in 2022, having previously made 110 appearances for Torino over a four-year spell.
