Liverpool 'in line for £5m Philippe Coutinho windfall after Barcelona U-turn'

Liverpool 'in line for £5m Coutinho windfall'

Liverpool are reportedly in line for another £5m payment from Barcelona following the La Liga club's decision to welcome the playmaker back into the fold.

After much speculation over the Brazil international's future, agent Kia Joorabchian revealed on Tuesday that his client is now expected to stay at Camp Nou.

Coutinho has struggled to hold down a regular place in Barca's lineup and spent 2019-20 on loan with Bayern Munich, who turned down the chance to sign him permanently this summer.

With the 28-year-old now likely to play more regularly under new head coach Ronald Koeman this coming season, Spanish outlet Sport claims that Liverpool are set to receive another financial bonus.

As per the terms of Coutinho's contract when he swapped Merseyside for Catalonia in January 2018, Barca must supposedly pay Liverpool £5m once he makes another 15 appearances for the club.

Another add-on in the deal included a £4.5m payment if Coutinho won the Champions League, which he achieved during his loan stint with Bayern.
