Liverpool 'have offer accepted for teenage defender'

Liverpool have reportedly had a bid accepted for Motherwell youngster Sam Campbell.

The 16-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for Motherwell but is believed to have attracted the attention of a number of clubs, including Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have now had an offer accepted for the teenager, who turned out for his Scottish club's Under-18s at the age of 14.

The report claims that Stephen Robinson's side have offered Campbell a three-year professional contract and are hoping to hold off interest from the Premier League to tie him to a new deal.

The youngster has already had a trial with the Premier League champions, though, and the Steelmen are facing a battle to convince him to turn down interest from Jurgen Klopp's side.

Crystal Palace are also believed to be keeping a close eye on the defender's progress.
