Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp rules out January arrival of RB Leipzig star Naby Keita

Klopp rules out early Keita arrival

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Naby Keita will not be joining the club from RB Leipzig in January.

An agreement is in place for the midfielder to move to Anfield next summer, but rumours had been circulating that the 22-year-old's deal could be fast-tracked.

When asked if the Guinea international will move to the Merseyside outfit earlier than planned, Klopp told reporters: "No. He is a player of Leipzig. How do we deal with this? I thought we don't speak about transfers.

"There is an agreement with the club that he will come in June or July to Liverpool. There is nothing else to say about that. We really don't think about it because of all the things Leipzig have said.

"They said they do not have to sell any player [early]. Why should they do something like that? So no, we don't think about it."

Keita, who plays as a box-to-box midfielder, has scored twice in 12 Bundesliga appearances and two times in five Champions League outings this season.

Liverpool had scored 15 goals in three games in all competitions until managing just one in their last two.
