Former England forward Darren Bent urges Leeds United to sign Liverpool teenager Rhian Brewster on loan.

Former England forward Darren Bent has urged Leeds United to move for Liverpool teenager Rhian Brewster at the start of 2020.

The 19-year-old is highly-rated by his Premier League club but has been restricted to just two EFL Cup appearances for the first team during the current campaign.

Swansea City are thought to be in pole position to sign the England Under-21 international on loan next month, but Bent has claimed that Leeds should fight to land the teenager on a short-term deal.

"Yeah most definitely. He needs to get games, he is a quality centre-forward, good on the ball so would be a good signing," Bent told Football Insider when questioned on a potential move.

"It's a no-brainer if they're willing to let him go out on loan and Leeds would be perfect for him with them near the top of the Championship.

"He'll go in there, play, help them get promoted, and if he does help them get promoted who knows next season he may end up getting a permanent move to Leeds and that could really kickstart his Premier League career."

Leeds saw their long winning run halted by Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon, but an impressive campaign to date has left Marcelo Bielsa's side second in the Championship table behind West Bromwich Albion.
