Marco Asensio 'threatens to leave Real Madrid if Neymar arrives'

Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio reportedly threatens to leave the club if they sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio has reportedly threatened to leave the club if they complete the signing of Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Madrid have been increasingly linked with a blockbuster move for Neymar, who became the most expensive player in football history when he joined PSG for £200m from Barcelona last year.

Neymar is reportedly desperate to return to Spain with Madrid, but Diario Gol claims that Asensio would consider his future should the Brazilian arrive at the Bernabeu.

Asensio made just 28 starts across all competitions last season and is concerned that the arrival of Neymar would further limit his first-team opportunities in the Spanish capital.

The 22-year-old reportedly tells teammates that he is leaving whenever Neymar is mentioned in the dressing room, and the likes of Liverpool, Juventus and PSG have been credited with an interest.

Liverpool could look to prioritise a move for the Spain international after their attempts to sign Nabil Fekir from Lyon collapsed at the weekend.
