Lucas Leiva returns from injury to be named in the Liverpool team to face Southampton this afternoon.

Lucas Leiva has been included in the Liverpool team to face Southampton following almost three months out with a thigh injury.

The Brazilian returns to the midfield alongside the recalled Jonjo Shelvey, with the duo replacing Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing following the loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

Southampton will be looking to make it five league games unbeaten and Nigel Adkins is able to name an unchanged side for the trip to Merseyside.

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, Shelvey, Sterling, Suarez

Southampton: Gazzaniga, Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Shaw, Puncheon, Schneiderlin, Cork, Lallana, Ramírez, Lambert
