Team News: Luis Suarez starts Liverpool clash against Melbourne Victory on the bench

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has opted to place striker Luis Suarez on the bench for their pre-season friendly against Melbourne Victory.

The controversial Uruguayan is expected to feature at some point during the clash since joining up with the squad for the first time following his comments that he wants to leave Anfield.

Meanwhile, Brad Jones has been given a starting spot in goal, while captain Steven Gerrard will lead the team out for his second clash of pre-season since recovering from a shoulder injury.

Fabio Borini will start the game up front, with Raheem Sterling, Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson also featuring.
