Premier League bosses will not scrap handshakes

The Premier League will not remove pre-match handshakes following Luis Suarez's altercation with Patrice Evra.

The Liverpool striker refused to shake the hand of the Manchester United defender prior to the game, leading to tensions throughout Saturday's match between the two sides.

The Football Association did remove the ritual when Queens Park Rangers faced Chelsea in the FA Cup earlier this month, following the ongoing racism row between Anton Ferdinand and John Terry.

Premier League bosses will not remove the pre-match handshakes, however, as they feel it would go against the 'Get on With the Game' campaign agreed by clubs in 2007.
