Wigan chairman Dave Whelan says that Roberto Martinez has until Thursday to make a final decision on his future.

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has revealed that manager Roberto Martinez will be given until Thursday to confirm where his future lies.

The Spaniard has been in contact with Liverpool over the managerial vacancy and it was originally thought that the 38-year-old would announce his decision tomorrow but it appears that the Latics chief has put back the initial deadline.

"Roberto has told me he is speaking with Liverpool again on Tuesday," Whelan told ESPN.. "I have now made it clear that I want this sorted out by Thursday at the latest as we have to get on preparing for next season."

Meanwhile, Swansea City have been forced to deny that manager Brendan Rodgers is due to have talks with Liverpool this week.
