Luis Suarez "sad" about Steven Gerrard's Liverpool exit

Luis Suarez admits that he is "sad" about Steven Gerrard's impending departure from Liverpool.

Barcelona star Luis Suarez has admitted that he is "sad" about Steven Gerrard's impending Liverpool departure.

The 34-year-old midfielder will close the door on a 17-year senior career with the Reds in the summer to begin a new spell at MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy.

Suarez played alongside Gerrard for two-and-a-half seasons at Anfield, and the Uruguayan, who joined Barca last summer for a £75m fee, has described his former teammate as an "amazing" player.

"I try to watch all the Liverpool games," FourFourTwo quotes Suarez as saying. "They have really good players.

"It's sad when I hear Stevie is leaving because for me he's an amazing player, and when I was at Liverpool they knew my dream was to play for Barcelona."

Gerrard will end his final season at Liverpool without a trophy following Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Wembley.
