Graeme Souness: 'Brendan Rodgers should never have been Liverpool manager'

Graeme Souness says that Brendan Rodgers should have never been given the job as Liverpool manager.

Graeme Souness has said that Brendan Rodgers should have never been given the job as Liverpool manager.

Rodgers was sacked after three years in charge following Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Everton.

"I'm stunned. They gave him a load of money in the summer and I find it amazing. But with all due respect I don't see why they gave Brendan Rodgers the job in the first place," Souness told Sky Sports News.

"Liverpool go out and buy the best young players, develop them and then hope to sell them. They have become a selling club."

Rodgers had previously said that he was not under pressure following this afternoon's result.
