Liverpool's Martin Skrtel: 'Beating Manchester City shows quality of our players'

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel believes that the goals scored by Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho against Manchester City show the "quality" within the team.

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel believes that Sunday's triumph over Manchester City shows the "quality" that the players possess at Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers's side have not lost a Premier League game since mid-December, and they were able to secure a 2-1 win over the champions just days after getting knocked out of the Europa League.

Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho got the goals and both were showered with praise for the manner of their strikes.

"We played well, we played much better and deserved to win and get the three points," Skrtel told the club's official website. "The way we got them, the two goals we scored by Philippe and Hendo, was unbelievable.

"It's not very often you see such nice goals in one game. I think it just showed the quality of our players. The performance from the whole team was brilliant and we are so pleased with the three points."

Liverpool are two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the league with 11 games left to play.
