Martin Skrtel has claimed that interest from Inter Milan never caused him to question his future at Liverpool after signing a new deal last week.
The Slovakian defender was repeatedly linked with a switch to Inter following reports that he had grown frustrated with the deal offered by Liverpool, but the 30-year-old insists that he was always keen to extend his stay at Anfield.
"Obviously there was talk about [Inter Milan] but the priority for me was always to stay at Liverpool and sign a new contract here," Skrtel told reporters. "Inter Milan are a big club but to my mind Liverpool are bigger.
"I am happy because I am staying at Liverpool and they were always my first choice.
"They changed the contract so obviously the talks were a little longer than they usually are but at the end of the day we agreed and that is the most important thing."
Skrtel's new deal expires in the summer of 2018.
