Martin Skrtel hails the influence of Craig Bellamy since his return to the club.

Martin Skrtel has hailed the influence of Craig Bellamy following the forward's impressive display in the 3-1 win over Newcastle.

The Welsh international scored a brace against his former club to finish 2011 on a high.

Skrtel has said that Bellamy has become a valuable asset to Liverpool following his return on a free transfer from Manchester City.

"Craig put in a really good performance and we were delighted for him to get two goals against his old club. He showed again what a great footballer he is," Skrtel told Liverpool's official site.

"Everybody knows how much quality he has and he shows that in every single game he plays. He's a great player and we are delighted to have him on our side.

"It was a very important win for us, especially after not winning the previous two games, so we got the three points and we are really happy with that."

Bellamy will be hoping that he can continue his form as Liverpool face his former club City on Tuesday night.
