Shelvey signs new Liverpool deal

Jonjo Shelvey has committed his future to Liverpool by signing a new long-term deal with the club.

The 20-year-old, who signed on at Anfield in 2010 from Charlton Athletic, has made 37 appearances for the senior side.

Reflecting on his new deal, the attacking midfielder revealed that he is pleased to be part of new manager Brendan Rodgers's plans.

"It's lovely to know I am in the plans for the future," he told the club's official website. "At the moment, it's just about getting things right each day and proving myself to the gaffer here.

"The gaffer and his way of playing will suit me down to the ground and hopefully I can be in his plans."

Shelvey spent part of last season on loan with Blackpool.
