Report: Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers to be sacked if Everton win derby

Brendan Rodgers will lose his job as Liverpool boss if Everton win the upcoming Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, according to reports.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be sacked if the Reds lose Sunday's Merseyside derby at Everton, according to reports.

The Northern Irishman, whose side have already dropped 10 points in the Premier League, is said to be under increasing pressure at Anfield, with Thursday's 1-1 Europa League draw at home to Sion doing little to help his cause.

It was reported last week that the club's owners Fenway Sports Group were split down the middle over whether or not to part company with the 42-year-old, who was appointed in 2012.

However, the club's hierarchy would unanimously decide that a change of manager is needed if Liverpool lose tomorrow's derby-day meeting at Goodison Park, according to The Mirror.

Carlo Ancelotti and Jurgen Klopp are among those said to be interested in the role, with Ajax coach Frank de Boer also reportedly in the reckoning.

Rodgers has spent in the region of £300m since replacing Kenny Dalglish three years ago, with a reported £85m of that coming during the summer.
