Brendan Rodgers "thankful" of support from Liverpool legends

Brendan Rodgers reveals that he is "thankful" of the support he gets off the pitch from Liverpool legends.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that he is "thankful" for the support that he receives off the pitch from a number of former players.

The Reds boss has come under fire for the side's performances this term, and the Anfield outfit are currently languishing in 12th in the Premier League.

Rodgers said that he accepts the criticism but believes that his job is made easier by the help of club legends such as Robbie Fowler and Kenny Dalglish.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Everyone these days will have an opinion whether it's a former player or a supporter. Some people are paid to be critical, some aren't. Obviously, you don't forget the support, especially in difficult moments.

"I am only thankful I've got guys here, former players like Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Kenny Dalglish, legends of the club, who are unequivocal in their support win, lose or draw.

"Steve McManaman, these guys, they see the difficult moments we are in but are 100% behind what we're doing. I tend to focus more on these guys who are real supporters of the club and want the club to do well."
