Brendan Rodgers pleased with point

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes that his side's 1-1 draw against Sunderland is a "very good result".

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has declared himself pleased with Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Sunderland this afternoon.

The Reds were forced to come from behind to get the point, and almost took all three as they struck the woodwork twice and missed a host of other chances.

However, Rodgers described the result as a "very good" one, and claimed that the only negative was the goal they conceded.

"I was very pleased with the performance. The commitment and quality was outstanding and the only disappointment was the goal," he said.

"We upped the tempo in the second half. This is a very good result, coming to Sunderland.

"The balance of the team was very good and it bodes well going forward."

Rodgers, who is still looking for his first league win in charge of Liverpool, faces Manchester United at Anfield in his next game.
