Brendan Rodgers invited Jurgen Klopp to his home after he replaced him

Rodgers: 'I invited Klopp to my house'

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he invited Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to his home for a "chat" shortly after he was sacked by the Merseyside club.

The Northern Irishman lost his job in October following a three-and-a-half-year spell without winning silverware at Anfield.

A few weeks later, Klopp was installed as new manager, but he is yet to make a significant impact on the Reds' season as they sit eighth in the Premier League table, 11 points off fourth place.

Despite getting sacked, Rodgers has revealed that he was more than happy to welcome his successor into his home.

"I remember spending time with Jurgen when he first got the job and I left, we sat and we spoke," Rodgers told beIN Sport.

"I had an incredible time at Liverpool, it's a wonderful club, but this was a guy who was coming in from another league, you know, sit and have at chat at my house.

"[He's a] good guy. Whatever help he would have needed going into the job as the manager I was there for that."

Rodgers has been linked with various clubs, including a lucrative move to Qatar, but the Irishman is yet to take a new job.
