Brendan Rodgers "determined" to succeed as Liverpool manager

Brendan Rodgers says that he is "determined" to succeed at Liverpool and reveals that his communication with the club's owners is "open".

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he and Liverpool's American owners have spoken and intend to keep the club "moving forward" with him as manager.

Rumours emerged this week suggesting that Fenway Sports Group, who own the Merseyside outfit, are considering potential alternatives to Rodgers.

The Northern Irishman guided the Reds to second in the Premier League last season, but the team have struggled to replicate that form and currently find themselves ninth in the standings after 15 games.

"Our communication is open," Rodgers said in this afternoon's press conference. "We spoke last night and it's about reinforcing what we've done well, but planning and keeping the club moving forward. That's the key objective for them.

"I am more determined to succeed here. We almost unexpectedly won the title [last season], and now the team has gone through a change.

"It's very similar to the first six months. Similar to the beginning when were in transition and getting used to a way of working. I'm determined. We enjoyed the title race and we still have a long way go to go."

Liverpool's Champions League campaign also came to an end in the group phase following Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Basel at Anfield.
