Rodgers accepts FA charge

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has accepted a Football Association charge following comments that he made about referee Lee Mason.

Rodgers was critical of Mason after his side's 2-1 defeat at Manchester City on Boxing Day, claiming that the official should not have been in charge of the match because he is from Greater Manchester.

The Reds boss also described Mason's performance at the Etihad Stadium as "horrendous".

Rodgers will now be fined by the FA, though he will not attend a short hearing held by the governing body.

Liverpool return to Premier League action on Sunday when they face Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
