Liverpool coach Steven Gerrard will be confirmed as the new manager of Scottish Premiership side Rangers on a three-year deal by the end of Friday, according to a report.

Steven Gerrard has reportedly agreed to become Rangers manager on a three-year deal and will appoint Gary McAllister as his assistant boss.

The 37-year-old confirmed earlier this week that he had held "positive talks" with the Gers over succeeding Graeme Murty at Ibrox.

According to Sky Sports News, those discussions concluded in London late on Thursday night and the former England skipper will likely be unveiled as Rangers' new manager by the end of Friday.

Gerrard is currently employed by Liverpool, where he has been tasked with overlooking the development of the club's Under-18s and Under-19s sides as he makes the transition from playing to coaching.

Rangers sacked Murty on Tuesday following their heavy loss to Old Firm rivals Celtic, which leaves them in a battle to finish in the Scottish Premiership's top three.
